Italian Football League (Serie A, referred to as "Serie A") is the highest level football league in Italy, managed and operated by the Serie A professional league. The number of participating teams in Serie A has increased from 18 to 20 since the 2004/2005 season, and the competition will be played in a double round. The bottom 3 teams in the standings will be relegated to the Italian Football League B. The champions and runners-up of Serie B will be directly promoted to Serie A, and the 3rd to 8th in Serie B will compete for a promotion place through play-offs. In the 1980s and 1990s, Serie A was full of stars and there were many strong teams. It was once recognized as the world's number one football league, and Serie A was known as the "Little World Cup".
